Spring is here???!

We are trying to update our world.  We have a new look and we are trying a new ditty.

   What do you think?

                         Safety is interesting!
                         Safety is challenging!
                         Safety is fun!
                         Safety is for everyone!

Remember that what children learn today, children teach tomorrow!

And a view of Max the Safety Dog and Seemore the Seal. They are drafts for now.

Around our Neighborhood!

Nana and her friends went to Harts Turkey Farm for lunch and I was invited to come along. Mr. Hart was kind enough to pose with me!

And lunch was delicious!

Thanks Mr. Hart!

Leaving Disney -

After 3 wonderful days, we had to leave Disney.  My Mum and Uncle went to Satellite Beach with Olivia. Aunti and Nana prepared to leave.  Aunt Barb already left.

Nana and Aunti had help with the bags for the car!

Our next trip will be to Rhode Island and Connecticut but not until spring.

We hope you enjoyed our trip with us and remember - KEEP SAFE!

The ultimate!

We finally arrived at our destination - The Magic Kingdom!~

It was great!  We loved it!  And here are my Nana, Aunti, little sister, Olivia and cousin, Tommy and myself!  The day was beautiful and crisp. The Magic Kingdom was packed with people so we had to ride with Aunti to avoid getting lost or falling.

A few notes!

When I and my safety friends travel, it is important to remember a few things:

1. Make sure you know your home telephone or cell number, your address and your parent's or adult's name.

2. Pack your clothes for the weather you will have.  If you are going to a warm place, take
summer clothes.  If you are going to a cold place take heavy clothes and a warm jacket.

3. Remember to pack your personal stuff like toothpaste and toothbrush.

4. Make sure you don't forget medicine if you take any and make sure you have a little slip of paper with you that has your allergies and blood type written on it.  Ask the adult in the household to explain these to you.

5. Always make sure that someone knows where you are going, even if it is a short trip.  Leave a piece of paper with your name and the place you are visiting. For example, if you go on a long trip, you will probably go with an adult and they can help you.  If you go out with your friends to hike, make sure you leave a map and the name of the place where you are going.

6. Take your adult with you when you go to the restrooms.

7.  If you become lost look for a policeman, or go into a business and explain you are lost and ask them for help.

8. Try not to wander around, stay in one place until help comes.

9. Always listen to your stomach, if something feels wrong it probably is.  More on this in a future post.

And we continue!

After we left Satellite Beach, we went to the west side of Florida.  It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm. We arrived at Aunt Barb's house exhausted!  We have had so many engagements that we need a rest day!

But, we were on the road on Tuesday to meet with Nana's friend Joan.  It was a great lunch and we were happy to catch up on recent activities!

Tomorrow we head to Disney - Can't Wait!!!

Our last nite!

Our last night we had dinner out!  My little sister chose a crab place for us - and since we are
always with Nana, we came too!

While we were waiting for our apple juice, we met Robin Stallman-Alwill, the owner of the Eau Gallie River Crab House (US Route 1, Melbourne, FL) -we again explained who we are and Mrs.  Stallman-Alwill said she would be please to pose with me and have it posted.

The food was delish - tomorrow the adventure continues to the West Coast of Florida!

This and that!

As our adventures have moved from snow to sun, the car needs a cleaning out!  Sammy and I had to take a rest and Nana cleaned out the car!

Our next stop is to the Ocean Spray Car Wash!  We had to wait while they cleaned the car, but we got to have our picture taken again!

But that isn't all!

After our lunch, our most important visit.  A visit to the Satellite Beach Public Library to ask if they would put us in their library!

Nana, Olivia, Aunt Barb, Sammy and I visited the library.  We spoke to Marlena Harold, Youth Services Librarian and explained Sara Safety and her friends are dedicated to child safety and would like a place in the library.  Since Sara Safety is non-profit, materials will be sent to the library to support Sara and Sammy Safety's mission of child safety.

We received approval to place us in the library (February 7, 2014) and we are so happy to be able to reach even more kids!

Florida, here we come!

After Richmond, VA, we took a direct route to Florida.  My little sister, Olivia was waiting for us to pick her up at school!

And, we had to have lunch of course and went to our favorite restaurant in Satellite Beach, FL, Long Doggers.

After explaining I and my friends are a non-profit group dedicated to child safety,

I was lucky enough to have my picture taken with the assistant manager JC. We must always ask permission to use photographs!  Some people just don't want their picture taken.

Researching our way to Richmond!

Feb. 5, 2014

We departed Alexandria, VA and travelled on US Route 1 (aka Jefferson Davis Highway) toward Richmond, VA.  It was a beautiful day!

We visited Dunfries, (we were told it was the oldest town in VA on US Route 1) visitor center and were referred to Occuquan, VA visitor center

Off we went to find a wonderful small town. We visited the Occoquan Visitor Center  and spoke with
Mr. Chris Bury.  We found that the center is on Mill Street and that Mill Street was the original US Route 1!

We continued on our way passed Quantico Marine Base, several new developments. Tidy and clean highways and buildings.

Nana took pictures of old fashioned houses and gas stations.

Still on US Route 1 we arrived at Fredericksburg, VA and followed Princess Ann Street also old US Route 1. We stopped in at the Fredericksburg Tourist Center where we met more very nice people who give us information.  What a trip!

Needless to say, Nana took us with her to the rest room.

An adult should always go with you to the restroom.

Our departure was marked by a promise to return to this wonderful, historic city and the place it holds in the history of our country.

Small towns, old houses, barren fields and closed businesses were seen and recorded as we headed to Richmond.  Nana was disappointed when she found the Richmond's Route 1 was a bypass, with little to actually see. The end of the day came and we found lodging.

Researching the area -

Feb. 4, 2014 found us on US Route 1 going toward Maryland.

We explored the old section of Alexandria, VA - seems to be some redevelopment going on.  Historic buildings are so nice!

We continued on US Route 1 through Washington, DC.  The road goes right through the center of the government buildings.  We could see the Washington Monument! I am going to have to remember to visit Washington, DC for a few days - there is so much for me and Sammy to see.

Following Route 1 we found ourselves lost!  The area is mainly residential but Nana stopped to find directions.  Aunt Barb waited in the car with me and Sammy.

We never leave children alone in a car without an adult.

We want to thank JD Williams of Riverdale, MD for passing on a flyer of US Route 1 and directing us to the municipal offices and the correct road to return to Alexandria.

We eventually found our way back to Alexandria, VA.

That evening we went to Mike's, Springfield, VA for dinner and our waitress agreed to have her picture taken with me. I must add, our waitress was just wonderful!

Sammy and I were on our best behavior!

Of course, wherever we go, I have to take time out to explain who we are, the importance of child safety and how to reach us!

OH NOOOOoooooo!!

Feb. 3, 2014 dawned and as we looked out the window - it was snowing on top of an already 8" on our car!

Cleared the car off, put the camera away (no pictures today!)  We began driving at 8 A. M. south on Route 87 which turns into Route 287 and the New Jersey Turnpike.  No weather report prepared us for the day to come.

The roads were terrible!  State police drove in front of us at 20 miles per hour and they followed a stream of plows across the entire highway and behind them drove dump trucks with their beds half way up dumping sand on the highway. No way off the road, no way on the road just keep going!

Our destination at the moment is to get to Baltimore airport and pick us Aunt Barb. She is flying in from Detroit!

Eight hours later, we arrived at the airport moments before Aunt Barb, picked her up and headed to Alexandria, VA and Patti's house!

Arrived exhausted but safe and sound at 6:30 P.M.

The Beginning!

We began this adventure (Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014) on a clear, cold day.  We drove from Alexandria, NH to Mahwah, New Jersey.  A fairly uneventful day!  All packed in the car.
Scrunched in!!!

Stuff everywhere!  Some stuff to be dropped off in Alexandria, VA, some to be dropped off in Satellite Beach, FL and the rest near Plant City, FL. And, of course, the maps! Our Nana is writing a book about US Route 1.

The weather was pretty good, we stopped for the night and prepared for tomorrow's ride to Alexandria, VA.

Not True!!!

No matter what we do there are always untrustworthy people out there to ruin a child safety site.

I am sorry to say that someone is writing ads under the name sara-safety and IT IS NOT US!
Looks like they are pushing shoes or something.

Please do not confuse us or contact their site.  If you have questions regarding this site and the
child safety program please e mail us or post as soon as possible.

Thank you,

On the plus side, Sara Safety 'the real one' is packing to go on a road trip!  Will let you know the
details later.
